China National Biotec Group (CNBG) has obtained approval to conduct a large-scale “Phase 3” clinical trial of its new coronavirus vaccine candidate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the company announced on Tuesday.

More than a dozen experimental vaccines are tested worldwide. None of them has yet passed an advanced “phase 3” test to determine the effectiveness of protecting healthy people from the virus, which has killed more than 4 70,000 people worldwide. .

Other Chinese companies wishing to test vaccines abroad include Clover Biopharmaceuticals, whose vaccines were given to participants in Australia in a first study, and Sinovac Biotech, which is expected to start a phase 3 trial in Brazil with 9,000 volunteers. .
