PM established independent ministry of AYUSH to bring Ayurveda to the world stage once again: Shripad Naik

Panaji:

AYUSH is currently an alternative medical system, but in the years to come it would be adopted worldwide as a traditional treatment, Union Minister of State for Independent Office (AYUSH) Shripad Naik said on Friday. The minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Madhavbaug and Vedic Delight Ayurvedic Treatment Centers in Dhavali-Ponda in Goa, an official statement from the AYUSH ministry said.

“The traditional Indian medicine system has been practiced for thousands of years, but was later neglected. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘AYUSH’ is back in its heyday. Prime Minister has established a ministry independent of AYUSH to bring Ayurveda back to the world stage once again, ”the Minister said.

He said that in just six years since its inception, the ministry of AYUSH has established itself around the world and called the annual celebration of International Yoga Day celebrated on June 21 around the world a great success of his ministry.

“Now, AYUSH is used as an alternative drug treatment. However, this image will change soon and the traditional AYUSH drug therapy will be adopted worldwide as a mainstream medical treatment,” the Union Minister said.

He added that providing better treatment at low cost to the common man is the idea behind establishing an independent AYUSH ministry. “We are now facing the global challenge of the Corona pandemic. In these times of testing, we have realized the importance of immunity. Ayurveda and Yoga have been accepted as immunity boosters,” said M . Naik.

The attorney for NRI commissioner Narendra Sawaikar was also present at the inaugural event of the Madhavbaug and Vedic Delight Ayurvedic Treatment Centers. The Minister then attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Goa Agricultural and Livestock Market in the state.

The ministry said it appreciates the state government’s work to empower Goa through such initiatives.
