Assam Civil Service Commission received 42 nominations in category, official says

The Assam Civil Service Commission (APSC) introduced the category ‘transgender’ in the state civil and related services exam application form and received 42 applications in this category, said on Friday. a manager.

The Commission issued an addendum on September 15 to an earlier notice, to include transgender people, for the first time, in the gender category for the 2020 combined (preliminary) reviews, APSC President Pallav Bhattacharya said.

The Union Civil Service Commission (UPSC) has already introduced the option into its recruitment process, and the APSC is likely the first state commission to do so, an official said.

“We have received 42 applications in this category for recruitment to junior grade posts in Assam’s Civil Service and other related services,” Bhattacharya said.

Considering the social and economic status of the community in the state, the nominations of 42 transgender people are very good news, said Swati Bidhan Baruah, deputy chair of the Assam State Transgender Welfare Council. .

83,251 applicants submitted forms until the last submission day, October 25.

The APSC also introduced online form submission this year.
