Assam Minister and top BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized supporters of AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal on Friday, alleging that they raised the slogan “Pakistan zindabad” upon his arrival at the airport. Silchar, an accusation that the opposition party denied.

“Look at the courage of these anti-national fundamentalists shouting PAKISTAN ZINDABAD as they welcome MP @BadruddinAjmal,” the minister tweeted.
“This completely exposes Congress, which is encouraging such forces by forging an alliance. We will fight them tooth and nail. Jai Hind,” Sarma said.
The AIUDF has agreed to be part of the Grand Alliance forged by Congress against the ruling BJP for the state assembly elections next year.
Mr Sarma also asked the police to register a case in this regard and investigate the case.
Silchar BJP MP Dr Rajdeep Roy said he had filed a police complaint against Mr Ajmal and AIUDF supporters in this regard.
“Enough is enough! Outraged after hearing ‘Pakistan zindabad’ in my constituency,” Roy said.
The AIUDF, for its part, alleged that the BJP had distorted the slogans raised by party supporters in favor of its leaders.
“They said Aziz Khan zindabad, not Pakistan zindabad,” party secretary general Aminul Islam said.
“Since the AIUDF and Congress began discussions on forming a Grand Alliance, the BJP – especially its senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma – has tried to create controversy. They realized that this was going to affect prospects of the party in the polls, “he said.
