The National Commission for Women and its leader Rekha Sharma have been widely criticized online.

New Delhi:

The AAP on Wednesday called for the immediate impeachment of NCW President Rekha Sharma for some of her old tweets, in which she allegedly made controversial remarks against women and politicians.

Ms Sharma, however, claimed her Twitter handle was hacked, after her tweets mocking women, politicians and politicians sparked public anger. The tweets date back to before she became president of the National Commission for Women (NCW). Ms Sharma has since deleted the tweets and locked her Twitter handle.

Speaking to reporters, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Atishi said the party was calling for Ms Sharma’s immediate dismissal from the post of NCW president.

“How can a woman with a loathsome, contemptible and anti-feminist mindset preside over an institution created to protect women’s rights? We demand the removal of Rekha Sharma from the post of president of the NCW with immediate effect,” he said. she declared.

Ms Atishi said that when a crime is committed against women, where will the victims go now that even the head of the women’s commission makes such comments.
