City police still investigating case (representation)

New York:

Up to nine people, including a teenager, were injured after a gunman shot at a large gathering in northern New York State, CNN reported.

City police are still investigating the case.

The incident started late Saturday night when police responded to a complaint about a stolen vehicle in Syracuse.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found hundreds of people on the street. People started running to the police saying someone was shooting, said Syracuse police chief Kenton Buckner. The officers heard no shots.

We do not know what type of gathering it was. Police found nine gunshot victims at the scene. A 17-year-old man was shot in the head and is listed in critical condition, and the other eight have injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The victims were between 17 and 53 years old.

“I think we have two or three different scenes, so I don’t know which place contributed to which victims,” said Buckner.

Syracuse mayor Ben Walsh said he was unaware of any city approval for the rally. “We would not issue approvals for a gathering of this size. So we will have to see how it went,” he added.

Law enforcement agencies surrounding the state, county and other cities and towns responded to the scene.
