Barmer, Rajasthan:

Gujarat police on Friday arrested a suspect wanted in a 38-year-old murder and murder case, officials said.

Shaktidan Singh, 66, was arrested by Gujarat police from the village of Bijawala. He was wanted in a 38-year-old murder and murder case, said Anand Sharma, police superintendent of Barmer.

Sharma said the accused committed the crimes in the Iqbalgarh area, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, in 1982. In the shooting, two people, including a police officer, were killed.

Shaktidan Singh was a notorious dacoit in the 80s and 40 cases are recorded against him in his original state, Rajasthan.

The accused had previously visited in 1989 and there are currently no pending cases against him in Rajasthan, the officer said.
