A key defendant and two of his associates have been arrested and an underage boy has been arrested for the murder of a 38-year-old man found dead in a forest in Baran district last week, police said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Doulatram Lodha (38), Ramswroop Lodha (25), and his two aides – Vishal and Naresh – were arrested and a minor boy was detained Thursday evening while one of the accused, identified like Chain Singh, is still on the run, they said.
A 38-year-old employment assistant was found dead in a drain with his face disfigured in a forest on Saturday last week, police said.
During the investigation, the main accused, Lodha, turned out to be the ex-boyfriend of an underage girl with whom the victim was in love. The accused fabricated a fake ID card on the girl’s social media and conspired to kill her, police official Ravinder Singh said.
The investigation revealed that Lodha was in love with the underage girl and had run away with her in 2016, as a result of which he was arrested and charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Indian Act. protection of children from sexual offenses (POCSO) for rape and kidnapping, he said.
Lodha was sentenced to 10 years in prison in that case and was in jail, but on his first appeal he was released on bail in 2018, the police official said.
Upon his return from prison, he found that the girl he had run away with was in a relationship with the job assistant and had conspired to kill him, he added.
