Two women from Amritsar, Punjab, were injured on Saturday after they jumped out of a moving taxi when her driver allegedly tried to assault one of them, police said.

A third woman was also in the taxi and was rescued by locals who pursued and intercepted the vehicle when they saw the duo jump out of the taxi, police said, adding that the driver was later arrested.

SHO Robin Hans said the three women hired the taxi that evening to go to a restaurant in the town on Ranjit Avenue.
