Two people were killed and three others seriously injured after the car they were traveling in burst a tire and fell into a pit on a highway in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police said.
Bangarmau circle officer Anjani Kumar Rai said the deceased were identified as Meera Devi, 53, and Jaiprakash, 40, both residents of Samastipur district in Bihar.
The incident happened in the morning on the Agra-Lucknow highway, under the Behta Mujawar police station, police said.
The car was traveling from Delhi to Samastipur, when one of the vehicle’s front tires burst, collided with the divider, overturned and fell into a deep pit.
The injured were admitted to the district hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for an autopsy, police added.
