As of Friday, as many as 11 healthcare workers, including two resident physicians, tested positive for the coronavirus at AIIMS, bringing the total number of hospital staff infected to 206 to 206.
Since February 1, 206 health workers, including two teachers, ten resident physicians, 26 nurses, nine technicians, five mess workers, 49 hospital caregivers, 34 sanitation workers and 69 security workers have been infected with the new coronavirus , said an AIIMS official.
More than 150 health workers have recovered and returned to work, said Dr. DK Sharma, Medical Director of AIIMS.
More than 64 health workers, including resident doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, technicians, sanitation workers and security personnel, tested positive in the past three days.
“We are taking all precautionary and safety measures for our health care workers at the institute. As soon as any health care worker is positive, we immediately isolate them and begin the contact tracing process,” said the Dr. Sharma.
According to sources, samples of about 11 health workers were tested positive until Friday morning, while 30 were found infected until Thursday morning and 23 were found infected until Wednesday morning.
“Health care workers and support staff who test positive come from both the COVID and non-COVID areas of the hospital. Employees from all kinds of services such as engineering, laboratories, offices, canteens, operating rooms and departments, among others, have contracted the infection, “said Dr. Sharma. said.
One of the AIIMS sanitation supervisors, who tested positive for COVID-19, died on Sunday when an employee of the AIIMS canteen mess died of the disease last week.
