Patna:
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s pledge of 10 lakh jobs and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s scathing response to this have fueled an acrimonious back-and-forth in the Bihar election campaign which begins next week.
Yesterday Nitish Kumar told a rally that rival Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ‘s promise was impossible that no one in the world can keep.
“Where are you going to get the money to pay the salaries? From the same scam you are in jail for? Or are you going to print counterfeit money,” sneered the chief minister at the rally in Gopalganj, without naming Tejashwi Yadav’s father, Lalu Yadav, who is serving a prison sentence in a corruption scandal involving the fraud of government funds intended for fodder for livestock.
Nitish Kumar also hinted that Tejashwi Yadav was inexperienced. “I see this promise on jobs, but people have no knowledge or experience (to keep this promise). Have you seen such a thing all over the world? Why only 10 lakh? Everyone,” says- he.
Tejashwi Yadav, who plans to speak today at a record 12 meetings, retorted: “I was Deputy Chief Minister. If I am so inexperienced and immature, then why are BJP leaders chasing me with 20 helicopters? I am a single man and they are so very many. What is their constraint? “
The 31-year-old RJD leader also echoed Nitish Kumar’s comments ridiculing his job promise. “The Chief Minister is physically and mentally tired. After his 15 year rule, he asks where is the money for jobs! Rs 30,000 crore is Bihar’s budget, where is the money? It all went in 60 scams under his watch Son Jal – Jeevan-Hariyali’s policy has been awarded Rs 24,000 crore. Everything is descending into corruption. He has spent Rs 500 crore to brighten his face in the advertisements. Then he makes this laughable comment about where the money is to give jobs, ”Tejashwi Yadav said.
“Nitish Kumar also said that there is no ocean near Bihar so no industries and factories? Winning and losing is part of the game, but this chief minister has lost it mentally and physically. There is provision in the budget for 4.5 lakh jobs that are vacant. And another 5.5 lakh is needed for the progress of Bihar, according to Niti Aayog. If there is a will, it is possible. “
Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of “10 lakh jobs” was also ridiculed by BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis, who said: “I heard that Tejashwi Yadav would give jobs to 10 lakh … They will give the order for 10 guns. lakh made in the country and Bihar will again see kidnappings and looting. “
Bihar is voting for a new assembly of 243 members on October 28, November 3 and 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
