Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath the day before Diwali ordered the release of a man arrested for illegally selling firecrackers. The chief minister also sent sweets and gifts to his daughter.

Mr Adityanath responded after video of a girl emerged on social media showing her bumping her head against a police van, pleading for her father’s release.

The incident was confirmed by the close aide of Chief Minister Shalabh mani Tripathi, who said the incident occurred in the Khurja town of Bulandshar.

Local police arrested the girl’s father along with a few others after a raid in the Mundakheda Road area of ​​Khurja on Friday night for illegally selling firecrackers.

As the video of the incident was shared several times, Chief Minister Adityanath found the behavior of the police “callous” and he quickly ordered the release of the men in addition to ordering the delivery of Diwali gifts and candies to the girl at home.

Bulandshahr Police Chief Superintendent Santosh Kuma Singh also confirmed the incident.
