The Ministry of Health said the death rate from COVID-19 in India was 2.87%, the lowest among the countries severely affected by the pandemic.

Union Secretary of Health Lav Agarwal said that from 3.38% in April the death rate fell to 2.87% from 6.4% worldwide and attributed locking, early detection and timely management of COVID-19 cases as the main reason for the low number of deaths.

With the registration of new cases, the number of COVID-19 in India has exceeded 1,45,000 and the number of deaths has risen to 4,167.

Meanwhile, Karnataka has decided to open temples to the public from June 1, making it the first in the country to allow worshipers into sanctuaries since the curbs induced by coronaviruses first appeared.
