In an alleged case of human sacrifice, a woman allegedly put her 24-year-old son to death, claiming she felt like a goddess, in a village in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place in Kohni village around 4.30 a.m., when Suniabai Lodhi attacked his son Dwarka with an ax, police official Arun Soni said.
The accused, who is in her 50s, claimed that she “sometimes felt like a goddess” and on Wednesday evening she felt the same and attacked her son with an ax, the official said.
Police arrested the woman and seized the weapon used in the attack, he said, adding that a new investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, Ram Bhagat, a resident of the village, told reporters: “At the time of the incident, Lodhi’s husband was sleeping in the house and after committing the act, she informed him that she had sacrificed his son. “
The incident sparked panic in the area, as a result of which the police were deployed to the village.
