Ladakh:

The Popular Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday began the process of expanding its consultations with residents of Ladakh, with the alliance claiming that the Center’s revocation of Articles 370 and 35A was unacceptable.

“We will also fight politically and legally, but our fight will be peaceful. We do not intend to vitiate the atmosphere in this state,” National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah told reporters in Kargil.

A PAGD delegation led by Omar Abdullah traveled to Ladakh and held consultations with the residents of Kargil “on the way forward” for Jammu and Kashmir.

Seven major parties of Jammu and Kashmir, including the NC and the PDP, formed the PAGD for the restoration of the special status of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Vowing to fight for the rights of the people of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir using all peaceful means, Omar Abdullah said the PAGD was ready to speak to anyone to develop a broader consensus on their demands.

“We are ready to talk to anyone and we will not hesitate to do so,” he said.

The former chief minister said he wanted Kargil’s representatives to be part of the PAGD.

“We haven’t had any discussions with them (Kargil representatives) so far, so how could we have included them in the PAGD? Now that we have had consultations with them, we want Kargil’s voices are attending the PAGD meeting, “he said.
