Bihar Polls 2020: RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav is in contention from the Raghopur headquarters. Is against BJP’s Satish Kumar

Hajipur, Bihar:

Tejashwi Yadav goes from region to region on a daily basis to gain support for the Grand Alliance so that he can become Chief Minister of Bihar, but winning his own seat will not be easy as it is against an experienced rival of BJP in Raghopur constituency, the one supported by Nitish Kumar as well.

Part of the seat of Hajipur Lok Sabha, the segment of the assembly of Raghopur in the Vaishali district will vote in the second phase on November 3.

Tejashwi Yadav, 31, the youngest son of Lalu Yadav, was fired from Raghopur in 2015 when he had barely reached the age of 25 to run for office.

He won the election and became Deputy Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whom he called chacha (paternal uncle) at the time, an expression of respect and alliance. But the alliance fell apart in 2017, and now Tejashwi Yadav is challenging Nitish Kumar for the first post.

The Grand Alliance, led by Lalu Yadav’s RJD party and with Congress and left-wing parties as members, has already announced Tejashwi Yadav as its top ministerial candidate.

The seat of Raghopur is a Yadav-dominated constituency that Lalu Yadav won in 1995, 2000 and his wife Rabri Devi won in 2005.

Tejashwi Yadav’s main rival now, BJP’s Satish Kumar, had turned into a giant killer, defeating Rabri Devi in the 2010 national elections.

Satish Kumar, however, lost to Tejashwi Yadav in 2015, when Tejashwi Yadav was a candidate for an alliance comprising his RJD, JD (U) and Congress, while the BJP contested alone.

The equation has since changed. Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) party is back with the BJP and the RJD is in an alliance with Congress and leftist parties.

Tejashwi Yadav and Satish Kumar are among 12 Raghopur candidates running in the Bihar 2020 polls.

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), led by Chirag Paswan, sent Rakesh Roshan to make the contest triangular.

As Satish Kumar roams the constituency daily, Tejashwi Yadav has not been able to devote much time as he is busy campaigning statewide as the RJD ‘star activist’ in the absence. of his father Lalu Yadav, who is serving a prison. term in fodder scam cases.

Tejashwi Yadav addressed a rally of his supporters in Raghopur on the day of the candidacy, October 14, and told them they would elect a chief minister. Tejashwi Yadav returned to Raghopur on October 29 to seek support from voters.

According to the 2019 electoral roll, there are 336,613 voters in the segment of the assembly in Raghopur.

While over 1.30 lakh Yadavs make up the bulk of the voters, the constituency has a significant presence of Rajputs, with an estimated electorate size of around 40,000, followed by 22,000 Muslims and 18,000 Paswans.

“He (Tejashwi Yadav) lost the trust of the people of Raghopur because he did not do substantial development work and only deceived voters for five years,” says Satish Kumar, who is also a Yadav. , about his main rival.

“Although he (Tejashwi Yadav) is trying to get Yadav votes by claiming that he will become the chief minister after the elections, people are not interested,” the BJP candidate said.

When asked if Tejashwi Yadav had the edge due to his father being the greatest Yadav leader in Bihar politics, BJP’s Satish Kumar Yadav told the Press Trust of India news agency. that “the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Center and Nitish Kumar in Bihar will see me comfortably through.”

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, also Yadav, has great influence within the caste, which is an advantage for the BJP candidate.

“If Lalu Yadav’s name guarantees victory to his sons, why did Tej Pratap flee to Hasanpur from Mahua in Vaishali? Even Tejashwi Yadav was planning to move to another constituency, but his advisers gave him a false conviction not to do so because he will win Raghopur by deceiving people in the name of being the opposition CM candidate, ”said Satish Kumar of the BJP.

Regarding LJP’s Rakesh Roshan, Satish Kumar said: “If Ramvilas Paswan had been alive, this would not have happened. But, the LJP candidate is nowhere in the race because not even Paswan’s voters support him not.”
