Senator Kamala Harris will serve as the country’s No. 2 vice chairman.

New Delhi:

Kamala Harris today shared a video of her phone call with U.S. President-elect Joe Biden shortly after the U.S. presidential election was called for the Democratic candidate.

“We did it, Joe. You’re going to be the next president of the United States,” Harris, who is apparently out for a walk, told Biden.

Joe Biden became the President-elect of the United States on Saturday after winning in the Battlefield State of Pennsylvania, which took him well beyond the electoral college threshold of 270 votes. The former vice president would become the longest-serving president in U.S. history when he was inaugurated at 78.

Senator Kamala Harris will be the first woman, the first black American and the first American of Asian descent to serve as vice president of the country’s No.2 office.

“Although I am the first woman to hold this position, I will not be the last,” Ms. Harris said in her first address to the nation as vice president-elect.

“Every little girl who watches tonight sees that this is a land of possibilities,” she said during the victory rally in Delaware.

Joe Biden, who defeated incumbent Republican US President Donald Trump in the hotly contested presidential election, will be the 46th President of the United States.

Harris is the first-ever female Vice President-elect of the United States. She will also be the first Vice President of Indian descent and the first African American Vice President of the country.
