Dilip Ghosh mocked Mamata Banerjee’s request to declare cyclone a national disaster

On Thursday, the West Bengal BJP president, Dilip Ghosh, questioned the West Bengal government’s claim that the state had suffered losses of 1 lakh crore crore due to cyclone “ Amphan alleging that it was a ploy to earn money in the name of disasters.

“It is a strategy to make money from these disasters. The IPC (M) had this disease earlier, now it has spread to the Trinamool Congress,” he said. .

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said earlier that the cyclone, which devastated West Bengal and parts of Odisha on May 20, had caused an estimated loss of 1 crore of Rs lakh in its condition.

The head of the BJP also mocked Ms. Banerjee’s request to declare the cyclone as a national disaster.

“There is nothing called a national disaster. The state government should simply tell the Center the extent of the damage caused,” he said.

Regarding the plight of migrant workers returning to the state, Ghosh said there was a shortage of food and water for them.

“Migrant workers face problems with food and water. This is why many of them are agitating,” he told reporters.

Ghosh said the panchayats should supply workers with essential items, which have returned in large numbers from different states across the country.

The BJP head of state also said that there was “rampant corruption” among state ration traffickers, and many were arrested in this regard.

“The government of West Bengal has the maximum amount of money but the majority of them are pocketed by TMC workers,” he said, hitting the ruling party in the state.

Regarding state educational facilities, Ghosh said that “72%” of schools in West Bengal operate with “only four teachers” while “42%” operate with “only three teachers”.

In the upper primary section, the dropout rate is 22% and 21% in the upper secondary section, he said.

“Most dropouts are from the Muslim community with which Banerjee has a special affinity,” said Ghosh.

Contacted, a senior official of the TMC said that the allegations made by the BJP were completely baseless.
