Washington:

The United States on Monday said it welcomed India’s new policy that allows foreign universities to set up campuses in India and Indian universities to do the same abroad.

“Welcome to the news that foreign universities can establish campuses in India and Indian universities can do the same abroad. We look forward to opportunities for US and Indian universities to partner and collaborate on research to advance our understanding of the world, ”Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, the US State Department said in a tweet.

According to an official statement, the Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP) on July 29, leaving room for large-scale transformational reforms in the school sectors and superior.

The internationalization of education will be facilitated both by institutional collaborations and by the mobility of students and professors and by allowing the entry of the best world universities to open campuses in India.

NEP 2020 focuses on ensuring universal access to school education at all levels – from preschool to secondary school. Support for infrastructure, innovative educational centers to bring dropouts back into the mainstream, monitoring of students and their learning levels, facilitating multiple learning paths involving formal and non-formal education modes, association of counselors or well-trained social workers with schools, open learning for grades 3, 5 and 8 through NIOS and public public schools, secondary education programs equivalent to grade 10 and 12, vocational courses , adult literacy programs and life enrichment programs are some of the means proposed to achieve this.

About 2 crores of out-of-school children will be brought back into mainstream under NEP 2020, according to a statement.
