UP’s criminal mastermind Vikas Dubey wanted in more than 60 cases

Kanpur:

The Kanpur district administration today used bulldozers to demolish a house belonging to Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the cold-blooded murder of eight UP police officers last week and a notorious criminal criminal accused in 60 criminal cases. The demolition was carried out in the presence of Uttar Pradesh police officers.

In the demolition footage, a group of armed police (some with what appears to be assault rifles) stand guard as a lone, yellow bulldozer destroys the house.

Large piles of rubble and bricks, as well as half-broken walls, can be seen in the video while the bulldozer goes about its business. The visuals also show empty rooms with broken roofs and several cars, all white, destroyed in the same way.

Meanwhile, a post office officer (SHO) was suspended.

“At the time of the meeting, he fled the meeting site. If he had faced the criminals, the situation could have been different,” said Mohit Agarwal, Inspector General (Kanpur Range), quoted by the agency as saying. ANI press.

Vikas Dubey is still missing, more than 36 hours after the bloodbath in the village of Bikru, about 150 km from the state capital, Lucknow.

Over 25 police teams have been assembled to capture him.

Police also said that a surveillance team is scanning more than 500 cell phones in order to retrieve information about its current location.

A cash reward of 50,000 rupees was offered for the same information, with the assurance that the tipster’s identity will be hidden to prevent attacks of revenge.

Last week, a large police force of about 50 police officers, from three police stations, undertook to arrest Vikas Dubey.

A raid had been planned in his village after he was named accused in a new attempted murder.

Aware of the impending raid, however, the gangster organized roadblocks to slow down the cops who, when they reached the village, were subjected to unexpected deadly crossfire.

Eight police officers, including an assistant police superintendent, were killed and seven others injured.

“The intention was to arrest him. There was an ambush. The gunfire was on three sides and it was fully planned,” said Dinesh Kumar, police chief at Kanpur.

Vikas Dubey’s criminal record started in 1990 with a murder case. Over the years, he has accumulated charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, extortion and riot.

In 2001, Dubey was charged with the murder of Santosh Shukla, a BJP chief from Kanpur who was chased and shot inside a police station. Dubey “surrendered” in 2002 but was acquitted.

A criminal with political ties, he was also a member of a political party in the past and is said to have detained armed henchmen in his village.

Widely feared, he exerts an influence and a plaque in his village, on the site of a project, describes him as “Zila panchayat member”.
