The commander of Andersen Air Force Base on Guam Island in the US Pacific said on Friday that a Chinese Air Force video that appeared to show a mock attack on his facility was from “propaganda” designed to coerce and antagonize.
The video showed nuclear-capable H-6 bombers hitting what appears to be Anderson, although it does not directly mention the name of the base, as regional tensions rise and the United States conducts a major biennium near from Guam.
“I am always concerned about our ability to protect our military personnel and their families,” Brig. General Jeremy T. Sloane, the commander of Andersen, told reporters on a conference call of the ongoing exercises Valiant Shield.
“The video itself – they know when to exercise,” he added. “This is a propaganda video … although we are still concerned about the protection of the island and the protection of our people, the video itself is only propaganda designed to coerce and annoy us. . “
The Chinese government has not commented on the video, which raised scenes taken from Hollywood movies like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, to the amusement of posters on Chinese social media.
It was posted on September 19 to the Chinese Air Force’s Weibo account, in the middle of Exercise Valiant Shield from September 14 to 25.
Sloane said Valiant Shield continued as planned.

Guam is home to significant US military installations, including the air base, which would be critical to responding to any conflict in the Asia-Pacific region.
The video also came as China carried out a second day of exercises near Taiwan, claimed by China, to express its anger over the visit of a senior US State Department official to Taipei.
The H-6 has been involved in several Chinese flights around and near Taiwan, according to the Taiwan Air Force, including those last week.
