Veteran actor, writer, director and producer Raavi Kondala Rao died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday, hospital sources said. Raavi Kondala Rao was 88 years old. Raavi Kondala Rao had acted and was associated with more than 600 South Indian films, mainly in the Telugu cinema.

Raavi Kondala Rao is survived by her son. Raavi Kondala Rao’s wife, Radha Kumari Rao, also an actor with over 600 films to her name, passed away in 2012. Raavi Kondala Rao and his wife Radha Kumari Rao had co-acted in several films.

Raavi Kondala Rao made his Telugu film debut Sobha in 1958 as an actor. Before entering cinema, he worked as an editor, writer and columnist for English and Telugu dailies and weeklies.

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan were among those condoning the death of the veteran movie personality.
