Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that India’s military and diplomatic talks with China are positive and will continue.

Addressing the BJP Jan-Samvad Rally Maharashtra by video link, the minister also said that the government led by Narendra Modi will ensure that the pride of India is not affected regarding the situation along the Indochinese border.

“The border dispute between India and China has been going on for a long time. We want to resolve it as soon as possible,” said Singh.

“Talks with China are ongoing at the military and diplomatic level. The June 6 talks were very positive and the two countries agreed to continue talks to resolve the ongoing conflict,” he said.

“I want to assure people that the country’s leadership is in good hands and that we will not compromise on India’s pride and self-respect,” he said.

Singh said Congressman Rahul Gandhi and some opposition leaders have asked the government for clarification on what is happening on the Indo-Chinese border.

“As the country’s Minister of Defense, I mean that whatever I say, I will say to Parliament, I will not mislead the people,” said the minister.
