Washington:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Wednesday that the United States would offer a $ 10 million reward to stop any state actor who interferes in the November election.
U.S. intelligence services said Russia intervened in the 2016 election to support Donald Trump, including through social media manipulation.
The United States “is offering a reward of up to $ 10 million for information leading to the identification or location of any person who, acting under the direction or control of a foreign government, interferes with US elections, ”Pompeo told reporters.
He did not elaborate on Russia, but US intelligence services have previously said they expect another effort from Moscow and other US adversaries.
Trump scoffed at US intelligence findings, notoriously at a joint 2018 press conference, appearing to take President Vladimir Putin’s denials of electoral interference at face value.
