US President Donald Trump, who witnessed the launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Saturday in a first private crew flight into space, said of the event: “It’s incredible.”
“This is just the start,” he said. “It really is something special.”
“Space will be one of the most important things we have ever done,” added Trump, noting that “no one does it like we do.”
The double-decker Falcon 9 rocket with NASA veteran astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley on board took off smoothly to begin its 19-hour journey to the International Space Station.
It was the first crewed flight from American soil since the end of the space shuttle program in 2011.
