US President Donald Trump on Sunday demanded that his Democratic rival Joe Biden take a drug test before or after the pair’s first debate on Tuesday, in his latest volley against his opponent’s mental acuity.
“I will strongly request a drug test from Sleepy Joe Biden before or after Tuesday night’s debate,” Trump tweeted.
“Of course, I’ll be okay with taking one too. His Debate performance was an UNEQUAL record, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy ???” he continued, without offering any proof of the claim.

According to US media, on Saturday, their teams finalized the conditions for the debate, which will be moderated by Fox News reporter Chris Wallace, including forgoing the traditional handshake and with a small audience due to Covid-19 restrictions .
The condition of a drug test was not mentioned.
The two septuagenarians are prone to clumsiness and blunders when speaking.
But Trump, 74, has spent months denigrating the mental state of Biden, 77, and has repeatedly suggested in recent weeks without any evidence that the former vice president could use unspecified drugs to improve his performance.
For the most part, Biden ignored the charges, calling on voters to observe the two men together.
“Look at me. Watch us both, ”he said in an interview with ABC in August.
On Saturday, Biden said he expected “personal attacks and lies” from the president during the debate, comparing Trump to Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
Tuesday’s clash in Cleveland, Ohio, the first of three 90-minute debates, marks the first time voters will have the chance to see the candidates face off directly.
