New Delhi:
Exam dates for the current and upcoming Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Personnel Selection Commission (SSC) exams are expected to be announced next week. While the UPSC has stated that the revised schedule will be announced on June 5, the SSC has stated that it will review the situation on June 1 before making a decision on the schedule of reviews.
UPSC and SSC had postponed their examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On average, more than 25 lakh candidates register for the two exams each year.
The preliminary civil service review of UPSC 2020 and the 2019 main civil service review have been postponed. UPSC also postponed the notification for the Indian Economic Service / 2020 review; Combined Medical Services Review, 2020; Central Armed Police Review, 2020 and NDA and Naval Academy Review, 2020.
SSC postponed the junior engineer exam (Paper-I), 2019, the stenographer exam of grade “ C ” and “ D ”, 2019 and the skill test for the combined level exam upper secondary, 2018.
These examinations are part of the recruitment announced in 2019 and 2018. For 2020, recruitment has not been started by the SSC. The SSC had planned to start its first recruitment in 2020 in April. The civil service exam was the first recruitment of the UPSC of the year and all other exams were postponed.
With the postponement of exams from previous years, there is uncertainty about the recruitment of the current year.
