INS Jalashwa brings back 700 Indians stranded from the Maldives

The Indian naval vessel Jalashwa docked safely at Tuticorin port on Sunday, bringing back 700 stranded Indian nationals from Male.

With this trip, INS Jalashwa alone has so far repatriated approximately 2,700 Indians from the Maldives and Sri Lanka as part of Operation “ Samudra Setu ”.

On June 1, the ship repatriated approximately 700 Indians from Colombo in Sri Lanka to Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. This is the third trip to the Maldives by INS Jalashwa.

The rescue mission is part of operation “ Samudra Setu ” as part of the Vande Bharat mission, which has so far facilitated the evacuation of nearly 2,700 people from Male twice on May 8 and 16 .

As part of the second phase of the naval repatriation mission, INS Jalashwa with its base in Visakhapatnam would go for evacuation to Bandar Abbas (Iran) after Male.
