The government of Uttar Pradesh transferred 1,000 rupees to the bank accounts of more than 10.4 lakh migrant workers recently returned to the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the maintenance allowance granted by his dispensation to migrant workers returning to the state has given new direction to public social protection schemes.

He said that migrant workers from other states are taken safely to quarantine centers and that adequate arrangements have been made for their food and medical examination.

“All of these workers have a very important role to play in building the nation. They have set an example for society through their work,” he said.

According to an official statement, 1,000 rupees were transferred by direct transfer of benefits (DBT) to the bank accounts of 10,48,166 migrant workers.

So far, 35 Lakh migrant workers have returned to the state.

Adityanath said that more than 12,000 buses from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) had been organized for their return and that 15-day ration kits had been distributed to migrant workers.

“When we work as a team, the whole system connects to it and gives positive results. The commitment with which all the departments acted during the crisis is an example for the country. This is why the Supreme Court did not comment on the state when the hearing was ongoing (on the COVID-19 crisis), “he said.

He said it is up to the state government to provide jobs for workers returning to their hometowns.

“First, the revenue department carried out the task of mapping the skills of the workers, then the finance department held a few meetings with the banks and prepared the action plan for their jobs and their autonomy,” he said. declared.

“Arrangements have been made to deliver food to 12-15 lakh people daily through community kitchens,” he said.

Adityanath said his government was doing everything for the social and economic security of migrant workers, he said.
