New Delhi:

The CBI has ended an Instagram-led online child pornography racket allegedly by an UP-based engineer, officials said on Friday.

The CBI has registered an FIR against Neeraj Yadav, an Anpara resident in Sonbhadra, who has a BTech degree. He was working in the nation’s capital before the lockdown, they said.

Yadav had been running the racket online since 2019, advertising the content on Instagram. He shared the objectionable material with customers via WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram and other social media platforms after receiving payment from them.

He allegedly used to take money through online payment platforms for child sexual abuse content and child pornography, they said.

Officials said he had been questioned in detail and that other people were under the scanner.

The agency searched his home in Sonbhadra district where his cell phone was recovered, they said.

The agency sent him for forensic analysis, they said

“It was alleged that the accused was advertising on Instagram for the sale of objectionable material, including child pornography.

“It was further alleged that the accused opened different accounts on the cloud storage and file hosting service using different email identifiers and storing such objectionable material, including child pornography,” CBI spokesperson RK Gaur said.
