Kiev, Ukraine:
A man wielding a knife killed two people and injured eight others, including an eight-year-old boy, in central Ukraine on Saturday, police said in an incident the country’s president called of “barbarian”.
National police said in a statement that the attack occurred in the industrial town of Kryvyi Rig.
The assailant was arrested and identified as a 37-year-old local resident, police said.
No further details were disclosed and no indication of a possible motive.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is from the city, described the attack as “a manifestation of outright terrorism … it was terrorism, a barbaric way of intimidating people.”
In May, seven people were shot and killed during an alcohol-fueled fishing trip to central Ukraine, a rare mass shooting in the former Soviet country.
