The third edition of the two plus two dialogue between India and the United States is scheduled to take place on Oct. 26-27 here, during which the two sides are likely to conduct a comprehensive review of their strategic cooperation, said people close to development. Thursday.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defense Secretary Mark Esper are due to travel to India for the dialogue, they said.
The Indian side in the talks will be represented by Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar and Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh.
The first two plus two dialogue was held in Delhi in September 2018 after the mechanism was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.
The second edition of the dialogue took place in Washington in December of last year.
The new framework for ministerial dialogue was initiated in order to provide a forward-looking vision of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
In the third edition of the talks, the two sides are also expected to deepen the situation in the Indo-Pacific region as well as in India’s neighborhood in addition to key bilateral issues.
With the dialogue taking place days before the presidential election in the United States, no major results are expected from it, a source said.
