Twitter added a warning to Trump’s tweet, claiming the content was ‘disputed’ and ‘could be misleading’

Pittsburgh, United States:

Twitter and Facebook both reported on Monday a message from President Donald Trump calling a decision by the United States Supreme Court on the Pennsylvania vote “very dangerous”.

The U.S. Supreme Court last week granted extended deadlines for receiving mail-in ballots in Tuesday’s election in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, states critical to Trump’s chances of re-election. The ruling left a ruling from Pennsylvania’s highest court allowing counting of postmarked mail-in ballots on election day and received up to three days later.

“The Supreme Court ruling on the Pennsylvania vote is VERY dangerous,” Trump wrote in his post on both platforms. “It will allow rampant and uncontrolled cheating and will undermine all of our legal systems. It will also induce violence in the streets. Something must be done!”

Twitter added a warning to Trump’s tweet, claiming its content was “disputed” and “may be misleading.”

The action was in line with Twitter’s “civic integrity policy”, a Twitter spokesperson told Reuters, saying the platform’s social media “would significantly restrict engagement” on the tweet.

Twitter’s disclaimer included a link to information on how voting by mail is “legal and safe.”

Facebook issued a disclaimer saying mail-in and in-person voting have a “history of reliability” in the United States, with voter fraud being extremely rare.
