Berat Albayrak has been Minister of Finance since 2018.

Istanbul:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday accepted the resignation of his son-in-law Berat Albayrak from his post as Minister of Finance after two years in office.

“Following an assessment made by our president, the request of our Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak to be relieved of his functions has been accepted,” the presidency said in a statement.

Albayrak, 42, is married to Erdogan’s eldest daughter, Esra, and has been Minister of Finance since 2018. He was Minister of Energy before that between 2015 and 2018.
