Washington:

President Donald Trump himself will vote for re-election early Saturday in Florida, the White House said Thursday.

“President Trump plans to vote early Saturday in West Palm Beach, Florida,” spokesman Judd Deere said.

Trump’s residence when he’s not in the White House is officially Florida, where he owns two major golf resorts, one of them in the Atlantic resort town of West Palm Beach.

The US election is not held until Nov. 3, but this year an unprecedented number of Americans have voted early, in person or by mail.

Most are voting early to avoid long lines on election day at a time when coronavirus cases are on the rise across the country.

Trump has criticized for months what he says is the dangerous expansion of postal voting, repeatedly saying the election will be rigged. Polls show he is heading for defeat.

Florida is one of the states he almost certainly needs to win to rack up enough electoral college votes to beat Democrat Joe Biden. The president will hold two election rallies there on Friday.
