An oil tanker driver was arrested in the US city of Minneapolis on Sunday after driving his vehicle at high speed over a bridge full of protesters taking part in a march against racism, officials said.
Although there were no immediate reports of injured protesters, the driver himself was transported to hospital after being transported from his vehicle, the Minnesota governor told reporters.
“I don’t know the driver’s motives at the moment but at this point, having no tragedy and many fatalities is just an incredible thing,” said Tim Walz.
