Calcutta:
TMC’s digital campaign “Mark Yourself safe from BJP” passed the 10 lakh mark in one month, the party said in a statement. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal launched the campaign on October 23 to educate the public about alleged BJP wrongdoing in the country ahead of the 2021 national elections.
The digital campaign, a brainchild of poll strategist Prashant Kishor and his Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) team, has garnered maximum turnout from people between the ages of 18 and 35.
“The savebengalfrombjp.com website has already seen more than 10 lakh people mark themselves safe. More than 14 lakh people have visited the website through November 17. The Facebook group for this campaign also has nearly 93,323 members. The campaign recorded maximum participation from the 18-35 age group, ”the statement said.
To participate in the campaign, people will need to click on the new website savebengalfrombjp.com to register.
The site contains messages like “Are you against the politics of dividing people”, “Are you against hatred”, “Will you speak against dictatorship”, “Do you speak against interference in your freedom” .
A senior TMC leader said the campaign has provided a platform for large numbers of people, opposed to the “BJP political brand,” to make their voices heard now with their privacy intact.
Previously, the TMC had launched the “Didi Ke Bolo” campaign (Ms. Banerjee is widely known as Didi or older sister), also an original idea of Kishor, about a year ago. In it, people with grievances over any issue could contact the Chief Minister’s office by dialing a hotline number or through WhatsApp and Facebook.
He also launched a “Bangla r Gorbo Mamata” (Didi, the pride of Bengal) campaign in March.
