New Delhi / Ghaziabad:
On Wednesday, the border between Delhi and Ghaziabad ran into traffic jams as authorities maintained a strict watch, only allowing vehicles with electronic passes and performing essential services after the Uttar Pradesh district sealed its border.
Because of the commuter pass checks, traffic has moved at a slow rate, said Ghaziabad deputy police superintendent Rakesh Mishra.
“Those who attempt to cross the border without valid passes were not allowed to enter Delhi,” he said.
The Ghaziabad administration again sealed the borders starting Monday evening to check the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the district.
On the Delhi side, the police said that people engaged in essential services are allowed to travel with authentic passes.
Doctors, police, paramedics and media representatives are also allowed to cross borders with their identity cards.
“We issue challans to commuters who do not have a valid pass and send them home. Challans have also been issued to people who have passes but do not put masks on their faces”, inspector of traffic-2 Said Ghaziabad BP Gupta.
Other than that, two people are not allowed to ride together on a motorcycle. If someone violates this, a challan will be issued. The fine for primary offenders is Rs 200, and for the second offense, it is Rs 500 and Rs 1000 for the third time, police said.
“The traffic is smooth and we have no problem because most people, who don’t obey the rules, accept their mistakes and cooperate with the police,” said Gupta.
Abhi, a Trilokpur resident, who rode his motorcycle without a mask, said: “I know I made a mistake. I had my mask but I forgot it in my car, which is in a health center. service. I’ll be careful now. “
The police gave him a challan and also gave him a mask.
