New Delhi:
The Dalai Lama turns 85 on July 6. The Tibetan Central Administration (CTA), also known as the Tibetan government in exile, said in a statement on Friday that Tibetans around the world will observe the “ year of gratitude ” from July 1.
The Kashag – the Tibetan parliament – will mark the 85th anniversary of the 14th Dalai Lama with a series of virtual events around the world. The year of gratitude will be celebrated from July 1 to June 30, 2021.
In a special conversation with GalacticGaming earlier this month, the Dalai Lama said he was proud that mentally and physically he was the son of India. “For over 50 years this body has survived that of India dal and rice, “he said. Before his 85th birthday, the Tibetan spiritual leader declared that” India is spiritually our country of origin and democracy. “
The “Year of Gratitude” will be marked in recognition of all the “exceptional contributions” of the Dalai Lama. Emphasis will be placed on sharing and celebrating his teachings, according to the CTA press release.
The main celebrations are scheduled for July 6, when around 50 dignitaries will gather at the Tibetan parliament in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, Lobsang Sangay, president of CTA, told PTI news agency.
There will be restrictions on the number of dignitaries in the Tibetan Parliament, in accordance with interior ministry guidelines to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the CTA said.
Residents of Tibetan communities across India will mark the day and there will be ceremonies and festivities, while ensuring that strict guidelines for COVID-19 are followed.
