Guwahati:
The Assam government wants the night curfew to continue after May 31, when the fourth phase of the national lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus ends. The move comes on the day COVID-19 cases in the state nearly quadrupled in a week – from 256 May 22 to 1024 to 22 hours Friday.
“We want the night curfew to continue because it helps. Whatever the Indian government decides on the foreclosure, we will follow the decision of the center. Whatever the Indian government decides on the foreclosure, we will follow the same thing” , said Assam Minister of Health Himanta Biswa. Sarma told reporters in Guwahati on Friday.
However, while in Assam it only took a week to quadruple her business, Kerela, who had already reached 286 cases on April 2, took more than seven weeks to quadruple, of which about 50% ( 565 people) have already recovered. In Assam, 103 people have recovered so far, added official sources.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Assam, to date, 92,390 samples have been tested, while Kerala has tested only 74,214 samples.
“We are fine although the duration of the night curfew starts at 9 pm instead of 7,” said the minister.
Sarma also alluded to preparations to open schools and colleges in the state, depending on whether the center decides to extend the closure or not.
