India’s new envoy to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami on Saturday called Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and discussed ongoing projects related to connectivity, trade and people-to-people contacts in the northern states. -East.
Speaking to reporters after speaking with Mr. Deb, Mr. Doraiswami said the North East is “central” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “stronger, resilient and modern” India.
He said that “Tripura is the gateway to the North East”, so he decided to meet with Mr. Deb, known to be “close” to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and having good relations with the neighboring country.
“As we develop our relationship with Bangladesh, our most important relationship with the neighboring country, it will be of great value to both countries if our connectivity, our travel, our interaction and our people-to-people relationships grow. To achieve this, Tripura is essential, which is why I am here, ”he says.
Earlier today, outgoing Envoy Riva Ganguly Das thanked “everyone” for her cooperation in making her term “extremely productive”.
