The army and the ITBP have been engaged in a military stalemate in Ladakh in recent months.

Grand Noida:

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), in developments that have taken place in recent months, have shattered the myth of some countries that they have a powerful army, Union Minister G Kishan said on Saturday. Reddy, in an indirect reference to the ongoing standoff between India and China in Ladakh.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs was addressing the Mountain War-trained Border Force troops on his 59th day of lifting in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

He did not take names but said that if India believes in the philosophy of “vasudhaiva kutumbakam” or the world is one family, the culture of the country teaches him to worship both “shastra and astra” or the sacred scriptures and the weapons at the same time.

“It has taught us that the enemy can lift their heads anytime, anywhere and we must be fully prepared to face any possibility. The ITBP is an important pillar in this country’s preparation,” said Mr. Reddy.

“The armies of some countries had a myth that they were among the mighty armies of the world, but during the developments of the past few months, the ITBP has shattered this myth,” he added.

The country and its citizens are proud of the bravery and dedication of the ITBP, the minister said.

The ITBP is the force designated to guard the 3,488 km long Sino-Indian Line of Control (LAC) stretching from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh on the country’s northeast flank.

The army and border guards have been engaged in a military stalemate in the Ladakh region for several months. The ITBP had said some time ago that it “had fought all night” and had given an appropriate response to Chinese PLA troops during a violent clash between the two sides on June 15 and 16. .

Mr Reddy said the force not only crosses borders and ensures the country’s internal security, but also protects its economic interests.

“India is surrounded by a hostile neighborhood and our enemy, time and again, puts obstacles to stop our economic development. When you defeat these enemy designs, you ensure the economic development of the country,” he said. -he declares.

Reddy said the Narendra Modi government is “determined” to strengthen and “modernize” the force, and informed of certain sanctions imposed on it in the recent past.

The minister said the Center had approved a budget of Rs 7,223 crore for the force for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

“I assure you that there will be no shortage of funds for the ITBP,” added Mr. Reddy.

ITBP Director General (CEO) Surjeet Singh Deswal also spoke at the event, praising the bravery that troops have recently shown in Ladakh under “very difficult circumstances”.

Mr Deswal said he recently visited the Ladakh border frontier and honored the valiant staff himself, while adding that recommendations had been sent to the government for the awarding of medals of bravery to certain of them who fought against Chinese troops.

The force spared no effort to guard this border, faced with weather challenges, low temperatures and oxygen levels and difficult terrain, he said.

Deswal said the force had finalized and sent the Interior Ministry a proposal to build “phase 2 of the border roads between India and China.”
“A proposal has also been sent to the high level committee empowered for the creation of 18 walking trails in Arunachal Pradesh. We hope that work on this will start soon,” said the head of ITBP.

He added that the force is providing better vehicles, bulletproof vests and helmets, clothing and rations to its troops at the border.
New systems for better communication have been installed, Deswal said.

The ITBP was formed following the Chinese aggression of 1962 and has approximately 90,000 troops and 60 battalions in the field.
