New Delhi:
The Interior Ministry asked all paramilitary forces to submit their views on the inclusion of the transgender category in a future recruitment review.
“There has been confusion for a long time about this, but we have asked CAPF for comments,” said a senior ministry official.
According to a letter, the Ministry of the Interior sought opinions on the integration of the transgender as a third sex, as well as men and women in the rules of the exam CAPF (deputy commander) 2020.
“We have also sent a reminder to the forces so that a final view can be taken,” he said.
Meanwhile, GalacticGaming has learned that the central armed police force – the Central Reserve Police Force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the Central Industrial Security Force and Sashastra Seema Bal – are examining the matter carefully.
“In addition to the medical / physical aspects, social acceptability, psychological and behavioral issues are also examined,” said a senior officer.
Officers from the Gazette (GO) join these forces at the rank of deputy commander and the entrance examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
According to data communicated by the Ministry of the Interior to the Parliament at the beginning of the year, the paramilitary forces are faced with a shortage of 2,695 classified officers.
The combined shortage of junior and other officers would be close to 1 lakh. The total authorized strength of these six forces is more than 10 lakh, of which only 3% are women.
The decision to diversify the forces comes four months after the Supreme Court finally ordered the creation of a permanent commission for women officers.
According to a study by the National Human Rights Commission, around 92% of transgender people are denied the right to participate in any form of economic activity in the country.
The community has 4 90,000 people according to the 2011 census.
