Telangana courts demanded to hear cases involving day-to-day MPs and MPs

The Telangana High Court ordered the subordinate courts to hold day-to-day hearings.

Hyderabad:

The Telangana High Court on Saturday ordered the subordinate courts to conduct daily hearings of all pending cases against MPs and MPs in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directive.

In a notification, all the courts concerned – the judge of the metropolitan sessions in Hyderabad; Special judge in charge of judging cases against parliamentarians / deputies; Court of the special judge under the Law on Prevention of Corruption for expeditious trial of cases of embezzlement of scholarship funds at the Department of Social Welfare; Senior IWC Judge Hyderabad and Senior ACB Judge – to handle day-to-day cases as directed by the Supreme Court.

The case concerns a petition filed by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay before the Supreme Court in 2016.

The High Court decided to extend the physical hearing of cases in the judicial districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Medak (except at the headquarters of Sangareddy district), Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Warangal Judicial Districts until November 6 following standard operating procedures (SoP).

The court, in a separate notification, said it was extending the current practice of virtual and physical hearing of cases until November 6.
