Patna:

A day before Amit Shah’s virtual rally, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday that campaigning in the midst of the country’s coronavirus crisis was nothing but “political bodybuilding”, and said the BJP was only interested in electoral victory, even at the cost of human lives.

Bihar Assembly opposition leader also accused the NDA government led by Nitish Kumar of providing “maternal” treatment to migrant workers and said it would be a major problem in Assembly polls planned for the end of the year.

In an interview with PTI, Yadav said he hoped that all like-minded parties driven by the same ideology of pro-constitutional supremacy would come under the same umbrella and fight “divisive government and a government failed 15 years “in the state.

He also dismissed reports of rifts in the opposition alliance, saying that having “contrary opinions” is healthy for any democracy.

His remarks came a day before Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) prepared to observe “ Garib Adhikar Diwas ” which was announced to counter the gathering of Mr. Shah on June 7.

Mr. Shah will address the people of the state via video conference and live Facebook.

The party has set itself the goal of ordering “at least one lakh of people from the 243 segments of the Bihar assembly” for the event, in addition to those who may prefer to listen to the speech on the site of social networking, Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal told PTI. .

“This virtual electoral rally (of the BJP) in the midst of the crisis of the century that paralyzed health infrastructure and the spread of the disease reached community level in the state, says a lot about the priorities of the BJP,” said said Mr. Yadav.

“The elections at this stage are nothing more than political bodybuilding. Rather than helping the poor, the needy and the migrants, they want to win elections even at the cost of human lives,” he added. .

The well-being of the people has been abandoned by the NDA governments in the Center and Bihar, he said, saying that saving lives is more important than forming governments.
