New Delhi:

A suspected ISIS operative was arrested in Delhi last night after a meeting, police said.

Abu Yusuf, the accused, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. by the Delhi police special cell, officials said.

“An ISIS operative was arrested with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by our special cell after an exchange of fire in Dhaula Kuan,” said Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police (DCP), Delhi police special cell, quoted by ANI news agency.

Officials said the suspect had visited several locations in the nation’s capital and was involved in a conspiracy. The matter is under further investigation, they said.

The arrest comes days after a doctor was arrested in Bangalore for alleged links to the terrorist group ISIS.

Rahman, 28, who worked as an ophthalmologist at MS Ramaiah Medical College, was arrested Monday by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the basis of intelligence gathered from a couple arrested in Delhi in March this year.

The couple are also believed to have had ties to ISIS and other terrorists, including a man from Tihar prison in Delhi.
