Congressman Suresh Dhanorkar from Chandrapur in Maharashtra has called on forestry officials in the region to kill a tiger that is believed to have killed eight people and around 25 head of cattle since January last year, as efforts to capture it by special teams were unsuccessful.

Mr Dhanorkar said he had held meetings with chief forestry curator NR Praveen and spoke by phone with state forestry minister Sanjay Rathod about the troublesome tiger, officially known as RT-1.
