  • “I don’t think the threat has gone,” said Shakti Kapoor
  • “I think the worst is yet to come,” he added.
  • “I will not let my children go out for now,” the actor said in an interview.

New Delhi:

Film and television projects have received the green light from the government of Maharashtra to resume work next month after the coronavirus shutdown, but at least one actor will not be back soon. Shakti Kapoor told ETimes that he does not intend to let his daughter Shraddha return to filming for a period of time. He may not have to do it because filmmakers are still trying to find a way to resume filming while respecting restrictions set by the government of Uddhav Thackeray – Maharashtra is the worst of the states affected by the COVID-19 pandemic – and the Producers Guild is said to have asked for a rule review.

In any event, Shakti Kapoor has declared his intention to err on the side of safety with regard to Shraddha. Nor will he come back to work himself. “I will not go out to work for now, and I will not allow my daughter Shraddha to return to work. I do not think the threat has disappeared. I think the worst has not yet come. I will not leave not my kids going out for work I know work is important but not at the cost of a lifetime. It will be very chaotic if people start shooting now, “Kapoor told ETimes. Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhanth is also an actor.

While most of the projects in progress are still pending, a handful have announced a return to filming. Mumbai Mirror reported this week that the John Abraham Thriller Mumbai Saga will resume filming next month, transferring filming from Mumbai to Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. Director Sanjay Gupta told the publication that the cast, which also includes Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff and Suniel Shetty, has agreed to return to work.

However, Shakti Kapoor advocates caution. “I tell the people in the industry in our group that it is better to wait than pay the hospital bills. It is still a very bad situation outside,” he said in his interview to ETimes.

The national lockdown that was imposed in the latter half of March not only halted production, but also delayed several projects ready for launch. Shraddha Kapoor’s Baaghi 3 was among the last films to be shown in theaters; it is believed that she was preparing a film with Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Luv Ranjan. Some films that were about to be released opted for a premiere on OTT platforms, such as Gulabo Sitabo, with Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Shakti Kapoor, who is known for playing both villainous and comic roles in movies, will then be seen in Priyadarshan. Hungama 2, following the director’s hit in 2003 Hungama.
