New Delhi:

Actor Shahid Kapoor is said to have transferred funds to background dancers with whom he worked in Bollywood after the COVID-19 crisis. A Times Of India Report said the 39-year-old actor transferred money to the bank accounts of some 40 dancers he had worked with in the past in films such as Ishq Vishq and Phata Nikhla Hero poster. For the uninitiated, Shahid Kapoor was part of the Shiamak Davar dance group before joining films and he also figured as a background dancer in Subhash Ghai-directed Taal. Speaking to YOU, Raj Surani, a former Bollywood dancer who now helps dancers get in touch with filmmakers, said: “Shahid Kapoor recently transferred money to the bank accounts of the dancers he worked for. He extended his support to around 40 people and said he would help them for the next 2 to 3 months. “

“We pre-selected the dancers from the day he started his career with Ishq Vishq. It’s been 17 years and they are in bad shape, they may not be working at the moment. Besides them, we even included the dancers who worked with him in Dhating Nach, Shaandaar and Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai,” he added.

According to the report, Shahid has so far helped 20 dancers from the group of choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan and 20 from the troupe of choreographer Bosco Martis. Shahid has already collaborated with Ahmed Khan for a few songs and even worked in his films Fool N Final and Paathshaala. Speaking of Shahid Kapoor and Bosco Martis, the duo have worked together in many films, including Phata Nikhla Hero poster and Jab We Met.

Shahid Kapoor is not the only celebrity who helps day laborers in the film industry in the midst of the coronavirus crisis. Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan, among others, also helped daily workers financially during the lockout.

Back to Shahid Kapoor, the actor will then be seen in the Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film Jersey. Directed by Gowtham Tinnari, who also directed the original film, Jersey will feature Mrunal Thakur and Shahid Kapoor’s father, Pankaj Kapur.
